Meet the Therapists

Brooke Kerr, LMFT (she/her/hers)

(657) 243-0029

Pain is part of being human. We are navigating difficult relationships, struggling to manage heavy emotions, adjusting to unexpected life circumstances, battling the constant weight of the world - the list goes on! But there is also joy, hope, genuine self-acceptance, and healing. Everyone is deserving of these things and it is my goal to help my clients find them. I want to help you connect deeply with yourself and those around you.

I obtained my Masters from Chapman University in 2019. I have experience with a wide range of populations including individual adults, adolescents, caretakers, individuals with chronic illness, parent-child relationships, families, and children. I have a year of experience with play therapy and also have experience in school counseling.

I am flexible and extremely collaborative when it comes to meeting client needs. What I want most for my clients is what they want for themselves! I will follow where you lead and point out some important things I notice along the way. When I do guide, it is to initiate and mediate difficult, healing conversations within and between people. I hold hope and optimism for those that can’t find it in themselves and I believe in everyone’s capacity for growth and change.

I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Hi, my name is Vahan (two-syllables, sounds just like it's spelled)! I'm currently finishing up my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I hold a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Acting from California State University Fullerton as well. I have a passion for various arts and humanities including visual and performance arts, music, literature, and history. During my time in a conservatory-style acting program, I was introduced to physical techniques that I found useful in my own journey in managing and developing mental wellness. As I navigated talk therapy as a client, I found that interpretation and behavioral modification could also benefit from tension reduction and expressive exploration which is standard for performers. Since then, my passion has been understanding means of improving quality of life that encourages us not just to exist but actively participate in living. As a past and present client of mental health as well as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I make these parts of my identity known as a means of visibility and normalization. I believe in an integrative and holistic approach to therapy. My focus is on working with individuals as well as families and couples to improve relational dynamics and achieve emotional wellness for everyday functioning. I define my theoretical approach as a Humanistic Integrative Common Factors Approach which draws a little bit from everywhere, applying the most relevant techniques to a client's needs. This includes Humanistic (validating personal experience), Psychoanalytic (finding connections to past experiences and present behaviors), Cognitive-Behavioral (focused adjustments to thought and behavior patterns), and Narrative (empowerment through identifying and building upon individuals' unique strengths) approaches.

Paula Ramos, AMFT

(909)736-0813

Hi, my name is Paula Ramos. I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of CA (AMFT #139161) supervised by Dr. Pamela Reeves (LMFT # 51463).

Life is about maintaining balance in all aspects, through love. There is so much out there to learn and grow from, so why not have fun doing it?

A little about me: I love going to CrossFit every morning. I am a huge nerd, which looks like constantly listening to audibles and/or podcasts such as Huberman Lab and non-fiction books. I enjoy being outdoors, doing anything active: snowboarding, motorcycle rides, dirt biking, hiking, any movement really. I also love traveling. My parents are from Peru, so I visit there often. I also speak Spanish - Tambien hablo español!

Therapy can help your understanding of where your emotions come from, connecting the past to the present, and decreasing the intensity by making sense of it. In order for others to understand you, you have to understand yourself first.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” -Viktor E Frankl

My therapy style is warm and welcoming, but I won't shy away from challenging you towards health. I want you to heal, grow, flourish. Therapy does not always have to be serious; I incorporate humor and add fun into sessions. I will explain the science side of therapy using psychoeducation, and predict the process to set you up for success.  My goal for you is to heal the root, it won’t be easy but it will be worth it and I will guide you every step of the way.

Some measurable factors that therapy is working: increased quality of sleep, blood pressure and pulse regulated, clear mind, decrease in nightmares, and if you have a medical condition then the symptoms will decrease (pain, headaches, skin rashes, constipation, infections, high blood pressure or heart rate, etc), increase in immune response, ability to relate and connect, decrease in defensive responses.

Your life changes the moment you feel solidified in who you are & how to manage stress, let’s do this!

Lynne Saks, BA, MFT Speaks Africans (she/her/hers), (Completing Master Program - Marriage And Family Therapist)

Supervised by Dr. Pamela Reeves

Hi my name's Lynne .  Life can be a confusing, meandering path that we all are trying to make sense of. Along the journey we can feel misunderstood, unsupported and alone. My journey to becoming a therapist has been informed by the richness of life experiences that being an immigrant, a mother, a daughter and community member has brought. My life experiences have often shown me the greatest therapeutic moments come from the power of being heard without judgment and embraced with full acceptance. I practice a person centered, trauma informed culturally humble approach that honors the strengths, values, views and experiences you bring to therapy. My goal is to create a safe space by cultivating a shared authenticity and trust as we collaborate in clarifying your values and move towards a valued, fulfilling life. You are the expert on yourself, my job is to help you to apply that expertise in a way that makes you feel empowered in moving through life.

I have a special interest in working children and adolescents. I believe that  storytelling, imaginative play, props such as dolls and puppets, as well as theater techniques like improvisation and performance help children to explore their feelings, connect with others, and problem-solve difficult situations. I also work with people who have experienced trauma and have walked aside people during acute crisis. I have worked with people who have experienced domestic violence, providing trauma intervention.

I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and am supervised by Dr. Pamela Reeves, LMFT #51463. It would be a privilege to work together.

Skyler Lamar, BA, MFT (she/her/hers), (Completing Master Program - Marriage and Family Therapist)

Supervised by Dr. Pamela Reeves

Hi everyone! My name is Skyler Lamar and I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee. I am currently in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy Masters Program at Pepperdine University. My goal is to be able to create a safe space for my client to not feel fear that they are being judged or having assumptions made about them. As a black woman myself, I know what it is like to have others assume your life story just by the way you look and I would never wish that upon someone else. As a first generation student, I received two undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Irvine. While there, I was able to get experience working with clients as a peer coach. One of the many things that I learned was that even if someone comes from a different background or has different experiences from you, there is always the foundation of emotions that we have all experienced in some capacity. I want to be able to not only help others but learn from their thoughts and feelings to become a more well-rounded person and mental health professional.

I would say that my current theoretical orientation is an integrative approach, especially because I believe that every person has different needs that can be remedied by different types of theoretical approaches. I not only want to help clients reach their goals but also be able to look back on the journey of how they got there with pride in their own growth. I want to assure clients that their stories matter and that their emotions and thoughts are not things to be looked down upon but rather things to validate and talk about further. The populations that I have a special interest working with are adults and couples, yet as a budding therapist I want to have experience working with multiple populations because something can always be learned in one place and applied in another. I hope to be able to empower others to move at their own pace, establish boundaries that they are comfortable with, and feel that they are capable of anything that they set their positive intentions towards.

Talia Kokonian

Hello, my name is Talia Kokonian. I am a therapist intern, currently pursuing my master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. My main focus is to always provide a kind and supportive space. My approach to therapy is having a balance between nurture and healing. I will be utilizing the different aspects of art therapy and play therapy, while also in training to become a certified brain spotter. I am fluent in both Armenian and English, while also providing support through telehealth. I am passionate about supporting adults that are part of the LGBTQ+ community, adults in the Armenian community, and supporting adults that have ADHD.
