The Multicultural Therapy Academy offers a two year training program for MFTs, MSWs and LPCC. We will be expanding these trainings, in the near future, to Psychological interns, Registered Psych Assistant and postgraduate psychologist (PsyD, PhD) all in a private practice setting. Our Associates (Interns) are selected via interview by one of our Board of Directors who currently works in the field and has expertise in various mental health areas.
Requirements – Selection Process
The selection process includes the following:
- Last semester-quarter of your Masters Program as MFT, MSW and LPCC
- Have a Masters degree in psychology or related field and at least one year of post-graduate
- experience.
- Must have their Intern number
- Have at least 6 months of individual psychotherapy – ongoing therapy is highly recommended
- Have basic therapeutic skills
- Able to work 16-20 hours a week
- Willing to work on personal and professional growth

All Interns must participate in a reading clinical issues group that will cover several topics, such as transference and counter-transference, active listening, client-center, couples work, group work, boundaries and process groups.
Interns will get a chance to be creative and run their own groups. There will also be speakers from various areas in the field such as, Psych hospitals, county clinics, What is a 5150 – 5250? Suicidial and Crisis along with Play therapy and Self-Care, Compassion Fatigue and more!
